Sugar Pie, Sweet Pea, Pot Pie and Monkey

I made those words my title, because those are all the new nick names George has given to Haley lately. Haley is such a big girl these days. She has learned to wave, climb up on everything, and crawl everywhere. She is also a squeeler and likes to yell out in Church especially when its really quiet. She has started eating puffs and has tried avacado, watermelon, pickles, a lemon, mashed potatoes, a roll, and tiny bites of other things. Haley loves to eat thats for sure, and as soon as she gets some teeth she will be chowing down I'm sure. She is also starting to learn to drink from a sippy cup. We love our sugar pie, sweet pea, pot pie, monkey girl! She just gets more fun everyday.

W.A. Martin Elementary

Saturday my dad's side of the family went to Crandal for the dedication of the new W.A. Martin Elementary School. It was such an awesome ceremony and such an honor to be apart of it. It was so fun having everyone there and all the babies too. If you know my Pepaw you know that he is a man of few words, but when he does talk, you better listen. He was in education for 36 years and was the principal, a teacher, a coach, the lawn mower man, the janitor, a preacher, the drivers ed teacher, and a great father all at the same time for many of those years. My Memaw quoted my dad saying, "Mom, I'm the only kid whose dad mows the school yard in a tie." The room was full of people there to honor him. I admire my Pepaw for many reasons, but the one thing that I truly admire him for is the fact that he has the whole bible memorized. Ask him any scripture and he can recite it and tell you chapter and verse. He studies the Bible most of his day, and he is still preaching. Congrats Pepaw! I don't know anyone else who deserves to have such an honor as you do!

The grill was recalled!! haha!! Apparently it caught on fire for other people too. Kind of not funny, but at least I am not to blame! So we got a bigger and meaner grill for free! Happy Labor Day to Us!

Odds and Ends

The other day I was cooking steaks and looked outside and my grill was on fire. Yes, on fire. I ran and got George who was taking a nap, and told him to hurry and help and he A. moved the grill away from the house, B. sprayed the grill with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. It was a close call and very scary. We are getting a new grill for free though. Grills should not catch on fire while cooking steaks. I did learn a lesson though, from now on I will move the grill farther away from the house and stay near it while it is cooking! This nutrition and food management major should have known better!
