George's Birthday, Girls Party, Merry Christmas

Yesterday was George's 28th birthday. Last night we had his requested birthday dinner at my moms which included meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, garlic bread, and a chocolate cake. It was very yummy and we all enjoyed a home cooked meal. I got him the Astros cap that he is wearing, an Astros ornament for our tree, and a "my first Astros tee" for Haley (I guess that's what happens when you become a dad, you get presents for your kids on your birthday..haha)

Thursday night I had our young girls group over to our house for a Christmas party. We had 18 people total and a fun time was had by all. We played some fun games and pictured below was one of them. We had to make reindeer antlers out of pantie hoes and small hard to blow up balloons. My team lost, but we laughed a lot so that was worth it.

After all of the fun we have had this past week, I am exited to announce that I have 17 days off from school! I don't have to go back until January 6th! That is why I LOVE my job! I plan on doing a lot of resting and preparing for a busy 2009. We are going to Houston for Christmas and then just chilling around c-town the rest of the time. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and enjoys the time they get to spend with family and friends. Love, George, Rachel, Max and Haley-(coming soon 2009)!

Baby Shower Post #2

So it finally let me upload my imagines. Not sure why its underlinning everything I'm typing, but I can't figure it out so I'm just going to keep going.

I got some great gifts as I said earlier. Here is a coat my mom made for Haley, a blanket my friend Alex and Mindy got monogrammed for her and a dress my mom made her. Since Haley is named after my great aunt Haley, I got some keep sakes from her since she passed away a month or so ago. I got one of her necklaces that has an H on it, and somethings that my grandmother had given her that Haley can have and keep forever.

Only 9 weeks and 4 days left until February 14th. The count down has really begun. Its hard to imagine that she will double in size in that time and that I will get even bigger. We are excited and ready to meet her. I hope she has curly brown hair, brown eyes and a big head like her daddy (JK about that one).

Baby Shower

We had a pretty eventful weekend. Friday night we went to the Christmas parade downtown Cleburne. It was really pretty good for a Cleburne parade. It lasted a good 30 minutes and Santa and Mrs. Clause even came by at the end. On Saturday night we went downtown Fort Worth and ate at Mi Cocina for George's Wells Fargo party. Sunday my church threw me a baby shower and we got tons of gifts. I will have to say that our little girl will be dressed in lots of pink for the first year of her life.

Here are all the wonderful ladies that have all been apart of my life since I was born.

Starting from the left:

Fairy George-Helped throw my mom's showers when she was getting married and having babies.

Betty Waits-I grew up with Erin her daughter and we have video tapes of us when we were 5 playing and at each others birthday parties

Jamie Williams-Taught me in pre school and I used to ride my bike to her house pretty much everyday after school to play with her little grandchildren when I was in elementary school and they were like a year old.

Amy Jones-I was in her wedding when I was 6 or 7 and I passed out the rice before they left.

Aunt Lisa-Well what can I say, she is pretty much my second mom and she headed up the whole shower! Thanks Aunt Lisa! It was great!

It is so fun to have showers and you forget how important it is to give gifts and go to showers to make the person feel special. George and I sure did feel pretty special unloading all of our gifts and filling up Haley's room on Sunday. My sister came down for the shower and very special guests were my high school friends Melve, Audra, and Alex (and Mindy my other HS mom). I was so glad they came and they gave me awesome gifts. I think they were discussing the whole time how they couldn't believe I was going to be a mom. Kind of crazy how time flies and things change.

My computer is not letting me upload anymore pictures, so I'm going to do another post and see if it will let me.

Mavericks Game

On Thursday mom and I went to the Mavericks game. They were playing the Suns and we had a great time with awesome seats. We won which made it even more fun to watch. Thanks mom for taking me!

T.O. was there and he threw a couple of footballs out. Too bad we didn't catch one.

29 Weeks-Perfect

So I am not one to like to talk about myself, but its my blog so I want to get this on record.

Dr. Ford said today the Haley and I are both PERFECT! Just what a momma wants to hear (wow that felt weird calling myself a mom).

Why are we so perfect?

-I have gained 3 pounds since my last visit, 6 pounds total

-My blood pressure was 130/80

-My glucose test was 91 and Dr. Ford said that was better than his would be

-No swelling in my feet or ankles

-Haley measures perfect in my belly, not to big or small

-Her heart beat was a perfect 140 bpm

So there you have it, we had a short and positive visit. Being a dietitian, I get into the whole numbers and lab tests and it makes me happy when they are all right on track. Just hope I can say that after the delivery and labor. We talked about an epidural and he put me down for one. No natural, wonder woman for me. I go back in 3 weeks on Dec. 22nd. Hope my appointment is as good as it was today.
Merry Christmas!!

Thanksgivings #2 and #3

Well if I hadn't gained enough weight yet during this pregnancy, I think after I go to the doctor tomorrow I will have gained more. We ate Thursday with my mom and dad and had steak, baked potatoes, mac-n-cheese, rolls, and a salad. Friday night we ate with my mom's family and had turkey and dressing and all the fixings. Saturday afternoon we had Thanksgiving #3 with the Martin family. We always go out to eat so we had Cotton Patch. I ate chicken fried steak, okra, and french fries..mmmm.. So when I got on the scale on Tuesday I had only gained 3 pounds and when I weighted this morning I had gained 6 pounds total. YAY! Dr. Ford will be pleased. That's one good thing about being pregnant over the holidays, I didn't haven't to worry about my calorie intake. Here are some pictures of our fun filled family time over the past couple of days.

My cousin Brandon and Cooper love lemons. Brandon and Mary are expecting a baby in May, so Brandon has already started practicing.

Thanksgiving #1 with the Prices

Our Thanksgiving started early with the Price crew coming down to our house for the weekend. Bobbie and Big George came down Thursday and Toni, Johnny, Riley, Jeff, Maston, Charley and Holly came Friday. This was the second year they have come to Cleburne for Thanksgiving and we hope the tradition continues. It is so fun to have everyone in the same house and all in one place for a couple of days. We had fried turkey, dressing, sides, and pies for dessert on Saturday. It was yummy and I can't wait to have it all again this coming Friday with my mom's family for Thanksgiving #2.

Here is a picture of Maston. She will be 2 in March and I've already decide her and Haley are going to be close cousins. She can say Haley really well and just about anything else you ask her to say. Riley is in the 6th grade and she is so fun to be around. I can relate to her at this age because I work with them everyday at school. Jeff has braces and is in the 4th grade. He sure gets picked on by his uncles when they are both around, but it will continue since he is still going to be the only boy grandson and cousin.

Here is a picture of all the gang. Notice the big belly on me. I should have stood in the back! :)
Here is a picture of George today after they left cleaning up. He was doing a dance with the mop. Not that he was dancing because everyone was gone by any means, but because the cowboys won today and we had our new music station on TV. Notice my feet propped up in the chair. Everyone helped me a lot and I have to say that this weekend I definitely felt 28 weeks pregnant. Everything is getting harder to do and I cannot stand up for longer than 30 minutes at a time without my feet and back hurting. Haley is around 16 inches long now and almost 3 pounds. I go back to the doctor next Monday. I only have to work Mon. and Tues. this week and then I'm out for Thanksgiving. This will be a much needed vacation for me to rest and relax. I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving and takes the time to be thankful for what they have in life and for family.

13 Weeks Remain

I've been meaning to post a picture, so this morning I took one of myself. I am 27 weeks and felt that it was appropriate to start counting down since 3 months from today is Haley's due date. I'm betting that she will come early since my mom had me 2 weeks early and Sara had Cooper 2 weeks early. Plus, I have heard that statistically teachers have babies earlier because they are on their feet so much. So my guess is she will come around February 5 or so. Not sure why, but we shall see. George and I were talking about how cool it would be if she came on Feb. 13 since that is his dad's birthday. I said it would be, but this year that would be Friday the 13th and I'm not sure I want to give birth on that day. Kind of scary.

Haley is now 2 pounds and is about 15 inches long. She is kicking a lot more every week. As much as I am ready to see her, I am enjoying our last 3 months as a couple without a child. I like sleep, and when I wake at night, I am so thankful that I can go right back to sleep. Will not be the case soon.

Here is a picture of the snake from my last post. Ugh.. We are going to get an outside farm cat to keep the snakes and mice out since we live on open land, but we are going to wait until Haley comes and we get adjusted a little.

Hope everyone has a nice and restful weekend. There is a cold front blowing in here and the high is 61 tomorrow. Brrrr.....

Doctors, Snakes, and Obama

#1-Snake

These are three things that I'm not so fond of, but they have all affected me this week. First off on Monday when I got home from school there was a snake in my kitchen. I took some pictures of it and will try to post later. It was probably 14 inches long and 1/2 an inch wide. But who cares, it was still a snake in my house. Just to give you a run down of all the crazy animals we have had in our house in the past two years: a bird, tarantulas, a frog, a mouse, a raccoon, 5 baby raccoons, bees, and now a SNAKE... UGH... So people say "you live in the country".. I don't care.. I don't like animals in my house unless they have the name Max, and even then, I don't like him in the house too much. So, George wasn't getting home until 6, and it was 4, so I called my dad and he came to save me. He picked it up and was playing with it and it bit him. Then he killed it and kept telling me "Where there's a baby, there's a mommy" ewww.. So now I'm checking my shoes. He said he was going to buy me a hand gun, but I doubt I would use it, I just like to run. Not sure what we would do without my dad around, cause he pretty much does all the killing of the animals for us. He ripped the snake in half with his hands and then spit on his hands to wash them-gross.. This is another reason I am happy that I am having a girl, because between George and my dad, a boy would be an adventure.

#2-Doctor

I went to the Doctor yesterday and it went well. I gave blood, had to drink a large bottle of orange junk, wait an hour, and give blood again. They haven't called me, so I guess I'm good and don't have gestational diabetes. I have only gained 3 pounds total since I've been pregnant. Kind of odd since I have a large belly, but Dr. F said that he would like for it to be more, but that he was not too concerned and said that as long as I'm eating good, then it will just be easier to get back to normal after pregnancy. Haley's heartbeat was 138 bpm and that was actually the first time he has been able to hear it on the Doppler. I preregistered at the hospital and called to get a pediatrician set up. He measured my stomach and said everything looked good. I go back Dec 1st and I will be 29 weeks. Not much longer!!

#3-Obama .....

.....CHANGE...........is all you will have in your pockets now.....

Lets just say I went to bed at 9:00 last night, and woke up at 10:00 ish to George yelling at the TV. I was at least excited McCain won Texas. Let the wild ride begin!

25 Weeks

This weekend has already started off nice and lazy for me. I needed one of these considering we have traveled somewhere the last 3 weekends in a row. Last night we relaxed, turned our lights off (hiding from tricker treaters) and watched a movie. Tonight we are having some couples over to watch the UT/Tech game. There should be lots of fun conversation with 3 pregnant woman and a 7 month old crawling around.

I am 25 weeks today. Only 15 more weeks until Haley comes. The next two months will go by fast and it will be January before we know it. I am feeling good and can't complain. Sometimes I think I'm not as strong or I get tired fast, but I think I'm too hard on myself. I mean, I work a full time job, dealing with 110, 7th and 8th graders each day and I'm on my feet teaching. I think I'm doing better dang good and have nothing to complain about.

Here is some info on Haley at 25 weeks. She now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half, she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture. She kicks a lot in the mornings, after school, and at night when I'm laying in bed. She probably kicks during the day, but I'm busy and don't really notice it. George felt her kick twice last night.

This is how big she is, but I know she is way cuter than this.

I can only imagine in 15 more weeks this will be her....Not sure how I feel about carrying something the size of a pumpkin in my belly..

Memaw and Pepaw bought me my high chair. Here is a picture of it. Thanks so much!!

I go to the doctor on Tuesday for my glucose screening test to see if I have Gestational Diabetes. This is routine for every pregnant woman. I'll let you know how the visit goes.

Homecoming Weekend and Haley's Bedding

Friday night we went to ACU for homecoming weekend. We made all the important Abilene stops like eating at Abuelos and Rick and Carolyns, driving by campus several times to see the new attractions, going to the parade and the game, and shopping at the campus store. Many will never understand why people have so much love for such a small college in Abilene, Texas, but if you go there, you know why you want your kids to someday be a wildcat. Its not about the classes or the education, but its about the relationships and the christian atmosphere. Though it may cost thousands of dollars to go to college here (thanks Mom, Dad, Bobbie, and Big George), every time we go back we realize that it was all worth it. Seeing old friends who shared so much with for four years of our lives, and seeing them start new little families of their own, just makes the tradition continue on. I just can't wait for Haley to get the same experience George and I did one day.

Here is one of my favorite memories and reasons I am glad I went to ACU-George. Here is a picture of us by the Gata fountain by the campus store.

See we are already getting prepared for our first little wildcat with some new attire.

Also, Haley's bedding and curtains arrived this week. Thanks goes out to Grandma and Grandfather (aka: Bobbie and Big George) for the bedding and curtains. We decided that going all pink was just too much, so we decided on green and black bedding and added some pink curtains and a pink sheet. We are excited with the outcome!

23 Weeks and Cooper's Party

Saturday Mom, Dad and I traveled to Austin for Cooper's 3rd birthday party. George and I bought him a kids violin, which he has been asking for, for probably 2 months or so. He loves music and if he follows in his mom and aunt's footsteps he is bound to be in the band someday!

I am 23 weeks and 2 days today. I am getting bigger every week it seems. I just wore a pair of pants today that fit last week and they got on my nerves today. Here is a lovely picture for those of you interested in seeing the growth. I was telling my mom last night that by the time February gets here, I probably won't care how she comes out, I'll just be ready to get Haley out of me. Pregnancy is just not my favorite thing! I knew I'd be a wimp and not enjoy it so much!

Weekend-22 Weeks

I think I'll start my blog today off on a fun note. We traveled to Denver City, TX to see our friends Jim and Laura and their new little girl Ella. We had a great time just eating, more eating, and laying around. Ella is so sweet. She is just the best little baby. She is 6 weeks old and sleeps 7 hours each night. I only heard her cry for like 10 seconds at a time and she only cried when she was hungry.

George got some practice. He is going to love little Haley and be the best dad. It was so fun to just hang out with Laura and talk about old college times. Laura and I were on the same hall our freshman year, both majored in Nutrition and had every class together, and were both Siggies. I'm so glad we went to see them. They only live 30 minutes from Hobbs, New Mexico, so we even went to a different state while we were there.

On a sad note.. my Great Aunt Haley passed away this morning. Our little Haley is going to be named after her. She was my grandmother's best friend and she definitely had the best name out of all of my grandmother's siblings (Loma, Elvis, Lemuel(sp?) ). She lived a long, Christian life and was ready to go, and although it is sad that she is gone, it's neat to see the way God created human life to have a beginning and an end and how we will have a new Haley here in February.

21 Weeks-Doctors Visit

We have been anticipating this doctors appointment for over 4 weeks now and Thursday Oct. 2nd finally arrived. George and I had both been giving each other a hard time on our kitchen marker board about whether it would be Haley or Mark. We had to wait 45 minutes for Dr. Ford and we were both getting impatient. He spent 10 minutes doing the sonogram looking at every part of the body. He said its spine looked nice, brain was normal, we saw 4 chambers of the heart, it had a bladder, it did not have a clefted pallet, the umbilical cord was positioned right, the knees and legs looked good and that this was a tall baby already. So then he said "well we are going to wrap this up" I was like wait a second, I'm glad its healthy, but we want to know boy or girl. So at the very end of the visit he scrolled down to the legs. I initially did not see anything between them, and I looked at George. Dr. Ford said, it looks like a girl, but save your receipts. That was not what I wanted to hear. Then he kept looking and he typed girl on the screen and said, yep that it was definitely a girl. Never the less, I'm still saving the receipts,
but I'm pretty sure he was right.

So I'm glad she has a name and a gender now and we can call her Haley. She has been kicking me a lot more lately and is growing more everyday. By next week she will be 1 pound.

Yep.. its a girl!

Kind of creepy, but she is staring right at us smiling!

Side profile view...

So after the appointment we went shopping. I told George to get used to spending his money now that he is going to have 2 girls in the house! Here are the letters we made to put in her room.

Thanks Aunt Toni and Uncle Johnny for the stroller and car seat!! We went to Babies R Us after the visit and picked out a pretty neutral color. I'm trying to stay neutral with my big stuff so if the next one is a boy, we won't have all pink stuff!

And of course we had to buy some pink girlie outfits. I did buy a camo girls outfit for George so that he can know that girls can hang out with their dads and be tough just like little boys!

When we arrived home my mom had put pink and white bows everywhere around our house and we had 2 little girl outfits hanging on our door. My next mission is to find bedding. I think I want to go with camo and hot pink. I'm going to look around online, so if any of you see anything let me know. If not, we might venture out and make it! We shall see......

Haley Clarke Price

Yep.. that's right, its a sweet little girl! I will post pictures and more info this weekend. Oh, and just a side note... Dr. Ford said she was already a tall little girl!! :) She is going to have her daddy's athletic ability and be a basketball star!

Canceled Home Phone-Almost Half Way

For anyone that reads this and ever calls us on our home phone line, the 817-645 number, we have canceled it and are just using our cell phones. We figured that we could use the extra $50 a month and the only people that called us on a daily basis on that line was either my parents or
1-800 numbers.

For your viewing pleasure, here is a picture of me almost half way through this pregnancy. I will be 20 weeks on Saturday and can't believe that in a few as 16-20 weeks we will have as little person to take care of constantly... kind of scary when you think about it, so I'm just trying not to!

Best Dad Award!!

We received our bed and changing table in the mail on Thursday and by Saturday afternoon they were both put together and ready to go. George is going to be the best dad and you can definitely tell he is ready for Mark or Haley to be here!! We go to the doctor in 11 days to find out the sex!

I am 19 weeks and 1 day today. This week the baby's sensory development is exploding! The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. I am feeling good despite the allergy, sinus stuff I have been having this past week. Here is the size of the baby.
